An MOT checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. In the UK, you’ll need your first MOT by the third anniversary of registration, then every year after that (for most vehicles).
We’ll carry out the test in line with the official requirements and let you know the result clearly. If anything needs attention, we’ll talk you through what’s failed (or been advised) and what your options are next — including prioritising safety-critical items first.
Regular servicing is one of the best ways to reduce unexpected repair bills, improve reliability, and keep your car working at its best. A good inspection routine also helps spot wear early — the small fixes that prevent big ones later.
Servicing typically covers the essentials (engine oil and filter, fluid checks/top-ups) plus a wider safety inspection across key systems such as brakes, steering/suspension and the exhaust — and, where appropriate, a diagnostic check for stored faults. We’ll recommend the right level of service for your mileage, age, and driving habits.
Note: we don’t offer tyre supply/fitting, but we can still flag tyre wear or safety issues during inspections.

Timing belts (and some timing chains) are critical engine components, and replacement intervals vary by make/model. As a rough guide, many timing belts are due somewhere around 50,000–100,000 miles and/or 5–10 years — but the correct schedule is always the one for your specific vehicle.
A proper cambelt job often includes more than “just the belt”. Depending on your engine, related components such as tensioners, pulleys and the water pump may also be replaced at the same time to reduce the risk of repeat labour later. We’ll advise what’s appropriate for your vehicle and provide a clear quote before work starts.
If you’re noticing difficulty selecting gears, grinding noises, juddering/jerking when moving off, vibrations, or a burning smell, it’s worth booking in sooner rather than later — clutch issues rarely improve with time.

Even if you’re not sure whether it’s “suspension” or “steering”, describe what you’re feeling and we’ll guide you to the right check.
We’ll check shocks/struts, springs, top mounts, anti-roll bar links, bushes, ball joints, track rod ends and other steering/suspension joints. Once we’ve pinpointed the worn part(s), we’ll explain the fix in plain English and provide an upfront quote before any work begins.
Your exhaust does more than reduce noise — it helps control emissions and routes harmful gases safely away from the cabin. If it’s blowing, rattling, louder than normal, smoky, or you can smell fumes, it should be checked promptly (it can affect performance and MOT outcomes).
Where appropriate, welding can be a practical repair option for certain exhaust sections/brackets or minor metalwork issues. We’ll inspect first, talk you through whether a repair is sensible or whether replacement is the safer long-term fix, then quote clearly either way.
